I have always been a cat person. Jim is a cat person. For years and years I have had cats. Wehave always had cats. When Jim and I first got together, we had 3 cats. Sammi, Hawkeye and Copperfield. Awesome cats. Can you tell I’m a cat person?
So what changed? A few months before we moved from Colorado to Georgia, it came to my attention that one of the reasons my dad and stepmother had not come to visit more often had to do with the fact that my step mother is HIGHLY allergic to cats. I actually never really knew that. By the time the move to Georgia came about, we were down to one cat. Hawkeye. Sammi was very old and had passed away and we ended up having to find a new home for Copperfield when Cris was a young baby due to health issues. We made the difficult decision to find a new home for Hawkeye before moving. Thus allowing my parents the ability to come visit us and spend time with the boys.
Well, I like to have a pet. I felt like we needed a family dog. One that was low key, easy going, already housetrained, loyal and good for the boys but smart enough to keep Jim from being too frustrated. Not big, not small…
Enter Sadie. After hours and hours of searching shelters and rescues online and emailing people, I went to take a look at this little beagle that needed a new home. She had been a rescue. When I left the house that morning, I fully intended on just going to meet her and then going home and sleeping on it. Oh well. What happened? Simple. Beagle love! I fell in love with her the minute I met her and most people do.
She’s funny, stubborn, super smart. She loves the boys and the boys love her. She loves to cuddle…she’s Sadie the Super Beagle. The name came about while the boys and I were driving in the car with her. She would stick her head out of the window like most dogs and her floppy beagle ears would fly up in the wind making it look like she was flying. It makes the boys giggle very hard, even cackle!
Anyway, she’s the beagle in my heart. I can’t imagine life without her as part of the family.

Bananas?
Apparently, Sadie likes bananas. Crazy, right?
Jim was sitting on the couch eating a banana. Sadie, being a typical beagle, was giving him that look. The one that says, “I’m starving, I haven’t eaten in days, I see you have food and it smells good!” So Jim gave her a small piece thinking she would just turn her nose up and walk away. Instead, she chewed a little, spit it out, looked at it, pick it back up and ate it. Then promptly begged for more! She’s a Banana Beagle!

You left out the part where you told me one morning as I am getting ready to go some where “Honwy, I wanna look at this dog” – then I come home and we have a dog.
’nuff said.
